Tom Brady superfan Zhang Weili at Super Bowl LV as cardboard cut-out

A video shared on Weibo by “Zhang Weili MMA”, her verified personal account, showed the UFC strawweight champion’s cardboard likeness in position behind the Chiefs end zone.

“As a fan of @TomBrady, I’m so excited to see the old man enter #Super Bowl# again! @NFL the 55th Super Bowl is about to start, come and join me to cheer for Brady!,” the video was captioned.

Zhang later congratulated Brady on his seventh Super Bowl victory – one more than his former team, the New England Patriots, the NFL’s most successful team.

“Idol legend. @tombrady,” Zhang wrote on Instagram, with a picture of the quarterback celebrating.

She was not the only famous NFL fan in the stands on Sunday, even if they could not make it in person.

US Olympic gymnast Simone Biles posted a picture of her own cardboard cut-out on Twitter. “My second Super Bowl appearance,” she wrote.

Others spotted in the stands included Bernie Sanders, in the gloves and coat he famously wore for Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration, and rapper Eminem.

Ozzy Osbourne, DJ Khaled, Bille Eilish and Lady Gaga were also spotted by eagle-eyed fans, while celebrity chef Guy Fieri spotted himself.

“Wait … How can I be in two places at the same time?” he wrote on Twitter, with the crying laughing emoji.

Cardboard cut-outs have become increasingly popular in sports stadiums since Covid-19 measures have limited crowds.
